Metabolism Jump Start

Is it better to work out first thing in the morning (without eating beforehand) or should I always eat first?
I’m trying to lose weight and I hear conflicting things about how to jump start the metabolism. My usual routine is to hit the gym about an hour after I wake up. I have a snack (usually an apple) between cardio and weight training. It seems to be working okay, but I’m wondering if it would be better to eat something as soon as I wake up so I can get my metabolism going that much quicker.
eat when you get up. if you dont, you wont have enough energy to last through the workout. and only drink water during the workout. you can get sick if youre working hard enough. and make sure its a healthy breakfast. fruit, dariy, protein, and grain
