How Can I Jump Start My Metabolism?
Can anyone tell me how to jump start my metabolism? I’m still struggling to get the weight off I gained during my pregnancy…my son is a year old!!! I eat good and exercise!!!! Doctor says it’s hormone levels, but there has to be something I can do. Thanks ![]()
I eat a 1800 calorie diet and workout 4x a week. I do a regimen of cardio(treadmill/eliptical) and weights.
The only way to jumpstart your metabolism is to do some cocaine or speed or something. Jumpstarting your metabolism is the funniest thing I have heard in years.
Let me clear something up for you. Your diet is probably not good at all and what you think is “exercise” is not exercise, its walking on the treadmill with the phone in your hand talking. I am not trying to be mean, but I find this the case in most men and women who say they have trouble losing weight. Even if your estrogen levels are high for example, you can still lose weight, its not a good excuse. Your doctor can do something about your hormone levels if they are not within normal range.
Lets begin with the diet part. Eating “good” or eating “healthy” is nonsense. If your eating 4000 calories of Mcdonalds or 4000 calories of what people consider “healthy” foods, your going to gain pretty much the same amount of weight. Plain and simple, you are just consuming too many calories, it does not matter if they are “healthy” foods or not.
Cut your calories, try going for 1500 calories for now. You have to keep a journal with you and write everything you eat, I mean everything, no cheating. If you dont have your journal with you, you dont eat. Its that simple, no cheating yourself. No saying to yourseld “this small cookie doesnt count, I wont write it in my journal.” No, if you do not have your journal, you do not eat, plain and simple.
As for cheating, you do it once a week with ONE meal, its not a cheat day, its not a cheat meal + dessert, no, its a cheat meal.
As for exercise, I think you can figure this part out yourself. But I’ll try to make it quick and short. You need to weight train, no excuses, no BS, you need to lift weights. You can start with the machines, but do them only for a few months. Pay a trainer and have him show you what to do and how to do it. Most people at the gym are idiots, especially the old people, so do not do what they do. They do each and every exercise incorrectly and workout every single muscle except the one they intend on working out.
Now as for weights and repetitions and all that. Do do a weight you can do 15 repetitions of. It should not be that difficult for the first set, but it SHOULD BE SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT. NO grabbing the lightest weights or anything like that. Either you do it right, or you dont do it. I could put together a workout plan for you, but I’m sure you can find a million online. And trust me, you are not going to put muscle on, so you dont have to worry about that.
You workout 45 minutes, then you jog or run for 45 minutes right after. Not the other way around. Do this 3x a week.
Now keep in mind this isnt temporary, its each and every day that you have to follow this. If your not serious, dont waste your time. Really you shouldnt. You can be one of your pharmacies best customers that have to take 10 medications each month because you have all these problems because of excess weight. I have dealt with these people and I have seen a couple of these people lose weight and the more weight they lose, the more medications they cut out. I know your not obese and its just a few pounds, but just be careful and keep an eye on things.

You still need to cut calories even more. And when it comes to 99% of people, they honestly think they are having 1800 calories, but its more like 2500.
