Metabolism Pathway
What are some cellular pathways? I know metabolism/cellular respiration is one, but are there other pathways?
Cell signaling pathways such MAPK pathways, AMPK pathways etc These are pathways which help in the transmission of external signal to within the cell and the right organelle or site so that it elicits the required response. For instance, in neurons, in order to pass on an action potential or a stimulus, neurotansmitter release is required. So a signal cascade is set up within the cells which ultimately causes the release of calcium ions from the ER which in turn help in the mobilisation of neurotrasnsmitter containing vesicles to the plasma membrane which are then released.
So basically there are a whole lot of other pathways apart from metabolism and respiration! Check out the KEGG pathway database.
